setting a table isn't a requirement for holiday decorating but it's something that i feel compelled to do every year. it's also the direct influence of my mom. she's a jedi master at setting a proper table!
because our living and dining rooms are a connected space i wanted to keep things fairly neutral and relatively simple. the only thing that i purchased were the dessert plates. i knew they would work really well with our wedding china. they had the whole mixed metallic thing working for them and the best part was they were under $3 per plate!
the greens were extra branches clipped off of our tree. rowan is responsible for the addition of the christmas ornaments which he pulled off the tree and the ribbon that he unearthed from a bin in the garage as i searched for tapers for the candlestick holders.
the crystal candlesticks were used in our wedding as were the mercury glass votives. sorting through some other stuff i found these fabulous black glass candlesticks that i purchased at the world's longest yard sale a few years ago! this moment of serendipity is brought to you by hoarding.
tablescapes that are a collection of treasures are always my favorite.
